With Paolo De Chiesa alongside him, Kristian Ghedina tells in a documentary the characters, the history, the anecdotes, the landscape, the slopes, the races and the victories lived by their protagonists: seventy years of Italian Olympics, from Cortina 1956 to Milano Cortina 2026, from the Valanga Azzurra to today’s champions.
Alongside the feats, the film recounts how skiing has changed technologically: the evolution of training methods and of the technology behind an athlete’s preparation, safety on the slopes and the equipment, through period images and the words of the people who work there.
For the first time cameras enter the venues built for the Milano Cortina 2026 Games, with exclusive interviews with the people behind them, the organisers and the institutions: from the slopes of Livigno and Bormio to the skating rink at Milano Rho Fiera, from the Cortina bob track to the Olympic Village that will host the athletes.
The first part unfolds against the places best loved by skiing fans, with Ghedina recalling episodes of his own life bound to the land where he won; the second looks at the sites of the new Olympic infrastructure, its environmental and commercial impact, the expectations of the people who live there and the new job opportunities it brings.
